Jun 26, 2014 When Windows 8 and Surface with Windows RT came out, there was already a nice Modern style app for Remote Desktop. Microsoft has released a RDP app for both iOS and Android too.

Applies to: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2

You can control a remote PC by using a Microsoft Remote Desktop client. The client can run on almost any device, including on your mobile smartphone. The client gives you the same powers you would have if you could reach the PC's keyboard. Through the client, you can:

Operate the apps that are installed on the PC.
Access the files and network resources of the PC.
Leave the apps open when you end the client.

Remote Desktop client URI scheme

You can integrate features of Remote Desktop clients across platforms by enabling a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme. Learn about the supported URI attributes that you can use with the iOS, Mac, and Android clients.

1) Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) manager:

2) Install the RDC software.
3) Open this folder in explorer: c:program files x86microsoftremote desktop connection manager
4) Right click on rdcman.exe

5a) If you are using a version of Windows 10 previous to the Creators Update (Build 1703), select the Properties menu -> Select Compatibility -> uncheck the 'Disable display scaling on high DPI setting' box

5b) If you are using Windows 10 Creators Update (Build 1703) or later check the 'Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:' box and select 'System'

6) Run the remote desktop connection(RDC) manager application and create a new RDP connection.
7) Edit the properties of the new RDP connection and on the display settings tab, uncheck the box for 'Inherit from parent'. Click ok.
8) In the Session menu -> select 'full screen' if desired
